In the stochastic cellular automaton, each site represents a biological cell and has three possible states – proliferative (red), quiescent (grey) and dead/vacant (white). The interaction between sites are controlled by a few parameters.

The Swendsen-Wang algorithm is a cluster update algorithm for accelerating Monte Carlo simulations. The animations show how to form clusters and flip them.

The skyrmion can occur in classical 2D Heisenberg model with Dzyaloshiskii-Moriya interactions. The figure shows helical skyrmions obtained through Monte Carlo simulation.
